			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>California colleges are classified in to four categories namely California Community Colleges, California State University, University of California and Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities</p>
<p>California Community Colleges is the first in the category of California colleges with a total of 112 colleges spread across the state. These are two year public institutions that prepare students towards achieving a two year degree in technical fields. The colleges also act as the bridge for students who upon completing coursework, wish to obtain a two year baccalaureate degree in the university of their choice. The California community colleges also prepare students who may want to enroll for a four year degree course but feel constrained academically or financially.</p>
<p>Then there is the California State University the largest in the California colleges categories with 23 campus spread across the state. California State University or CSU as it is widely known offers baccalaureate degrees in professions such as nursing, teaching and engineering. CSU is large, diverse and a melting pot of different cultures that boasts of over 400,000 students.  This university offer high caliber training and prepares professionals who can fit and work in any corner of the world as attested by over 2.5 million CSU alumni.</p>
<p>The third in the list of California colleges is the University of California. The University of California has nine undergraduate campuses with excellent academic programs, research facilities and well stocked libraries. University of California has cut a niche for itself among the California colleges as an internationally recognized institution in undergraduate education. Graduates from this university find easy acceptance in the job market and smooth transition to other institutions of higher learning.</p>
<p>The final group of California colleges is the California Independent Colleges which operate under the Association of Independent California Colleges and Universities. There are 75 non profit independent colleges and universities with over 240,000 students in California. Their academic programs include liberal arts, specialized training and research in health care. These independent colleges offer quality training geared towards individual values and goals.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>University of California Santa Cruz is one of the ten campuses of University of California. It is lies 80 miles south of San Francisco along the Pacific coastline. University of California Santa Cruz is a public university that was established in 1965 as college that mainly offered multi disciplinary undergraduate education. It has since grown to become a modern research institution for undergraduate and graduate programs. The university has 63 undergraduate majors and 35 minors and has 33 graduate programs.</p>
<p>The main undergraduate course at the university of California Santa Cruz include; Art, Business Management, Economics, Psychology and Molecular and Cell Biology. Other programs considered non core but still important are Environmental Studies, Digital Arts and New Media, Environmental Studies, American Studies, and Feminist Studies.</p>
<p>On the research front, the University of Santa Cruz has an undergraduate natural science research center at Crown College and also has the administrative right for the astronomy research center called Lick Observatory. The university also has a fully fledged organic farm and garden programs at the Center for Agroecology and Sustainable Food Systems that was established in 1967.</p>
<p>University of California Santa Cruz is a residential college with near 100 percent of all freshmen living in its ten residential colleges. These colleges offer both housing and dining services making the students life in the campus worthwhile. The university offers opportunities for out door activities such as hiking and jogging. This is made possible by expansive campus meadows with over 25 miles of hiking trails. Students are organized into more than 100 clubs and organizations making it east to undertake competitive sporting activities among the groups. University of California Santa Cruz sports team is also a member of NCAAs Division III where they are cheered on by their best mascot, the Banana Slug.</p>
